Zirconia Crowns Dental Lab

A zirconia porcelain crown (or ceramic zirconia crown) consists of zirconia coping (or zirconia base) and porcelain coating. The monolithic zirconia coping provides strength (1200MPa), while the porcelain coating gives translucency on the incisal. A zirconia porcelain crown can be very natural looking. Therefore, people often choose it for their front teeth (Anterior zirconia crown). With the help of tough monolithic zirconia base, we can also make a long porcelain zirconia bridge in many cases.

A monolithic zirconium crown is also called bruxzir crown, or full zirconia crown, because the whole crown is made of zirconia material only (no porcelain coating). A traditional monolithic zirconia crown is the strongest among all ceramic crowns (but with opaque look). Dental lab technicians have to add stain on the incisor, in order to make the crown look more natural. Therefore, people normally choose monolithic zirconia bridges for their back teeth, which need to withstand very strong chewing force.

A high transluscent zirconia crown, also known as multilayer full zirconia crown, or bruxzir aesthetic zirconia crown) is also made of zirconia material only (no porcelain coating). Yet, this full zirconia material includes layers of shade blending, normally from cervical to incisor. This shade blending mimics our natural teeth vividly, but at a cost of being less strong (1050-700MPa). Since it is natural looking and still strong (compared to Emax crown), people often choose it for both front and back teeth (often single crowns and short bridges).
